• Revlimid (lenalidomide) is the lead compound of a new class of immunomodulators, which has both immunomodulatory, and antiangiogenic properties. Lenalidomide inhibits the secretion of anti-inflammatory cytokines, including tumor necrosis factor -a (TNF-a), interleukin 1 p (IL-1(3), IL-6 and IL-12 from liposaccharide (LPS)-stimulated peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PMC). Lenalidomide promotes the production of anti-inflammatory cytokine IL -10 from LPS-stimulated PMC, resulting in ingibirovanie expression, but not the enzymatic activity of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). Lenalidomide induces proliferation of T-cells and increases the synthesis of IL-2 and interferon -1U, and also enhances the cytotoxic activity of their own killer cells. Lenalidomide inhibits the proliferation of various cell lines of hematopoietic tumors, mainly those who have cytogenetic defects of chromosome 5. After oral lenalidomide is rapidly absorbed; the maximum concentration is reached through a 0.625 - 1.5 hours after a single dose. Eating does not affect the extent of absorption.
