Like all high resistivity alloys, manganin has a disordered crystal structure. The color of manganin is light orange, density 8400 kg/m3, melting point 960°C, TCR 18 x 10-6 1/°C. Main characteristics: soft products made of manganin - sp = 450…550 MPa, ep = 10…25%, r = 0.424-0.47 Ohm • mm2/m; solid – sp – 550…580 MPa, er = 5…9%, r = 0.47…0.5 Ohm – mm2/m, TKr == (2…4) • 10-5 1/°C. To increase the electrical resistivity to 1.5-2 Ω*mm2/m, 60-67% manganese and 16-30% nickel are added to the composition of manganin by reducing the copper content. The advantage of manganin products is a very small dependence of electrical resistivity on temperature, as well as a very small thermoelectric power when manganin contacts copper (0.9-1 μV / ° C). To stabilize the electrical characteristics, manganin products are subjected to heat treatment in vacuum at 4006°C and subsequent long-term holding at room temperature, as a result of which the homogeneity of the alloy is increased and its properties are stabilized. The highest allowable operating temperature for articles made from stabilized manganin varieties is 200°C, and from non-stabilized varieties, 60–80°C. When these temperatures are exceeded, an irreversible change in properties occurs in manganin products. Manganin is used to make soft (PMM) and hard (PMT) wires 0 0.02-6 mm and tapes up to 0.08 mm thick and up to 270 mm wide. In addition, they produce manganin winding wires with enamel insulation (PEVMM and PEVMT), with natural silk insulation (PShDMM and PShDMT), insulated with enamel and one layer of natural silk (PESHOMM and PESHOMT). Manganin products are used in the production of high-class resistors. |
